Encontrei-a no MAD (!), Museum of Arts and Design de Nova Iorque, parte de uma exposição que decorreu no Verão passado, "Radical Lace and Subversive Knitting" (rendas radicais e tricot subversivo). Freddie Robbins, modeladora de tricot, um novo campo saído da sala caseira para galerias e museus.

"My studio practise questions conformity and notions of normality, and intersects the categorisation of art and craft. I use knitting to explore pertinent contemporary issues of the domestic, gender and the human condition. I find knitting to be a powerful medium for self-expression and communication because of the cultural preconceptions surrounding it. My work subverts these preconceptions and disrupts the notion of the medium being passive and benign. My ideas are expressed through an exploration of the human form."

Fabuloso. A primeira reacção que tive ao ver as imagens, ainda não tinha lido as tuas palavras (MAD !!!), e já me estava a causar estranheza, esta provocação de trapos, ao jeito da "segunda" pele do Hundertwasser. Problematizar o lobo é uma função tão válida como vestir-lhe a pele. ;o)

A minha filha ia já acusar-me de sexismo, mas. Desde que o sexo feminino pode mostrar a pele, muita coisa tem saído do armário. E estamos no início dos inícios, nem sequer "temos" ainda história digna de nome. Provocação de trapos, libertação de trapos....
