hosta

"The house was suburban-comfortable; its distinguishing characteristic was that the lawn was essentially a field of hosta plants. Thousands of them, like a midget army from Invasion of the Body Snatchers."

J. Sandford, Dark of the Moon.

a casa do futuro

"There was a sign propped in the window of the little stone house that read "CONCEPCIÓN" - just that one word, handwritten in orange crayon with little blue Christmas lights around the border. A small porcelain crucifix hung right above the sign and the bright blood from Christ's wounds seemed to stand out even more intensely against the pure enameled white of his skin."

Lá dentro cheirava a igreja."

-----
se existem as originais, as originais serão:

first: "My grandmother lived in a red-brick house set behind a screen of yellow spattered laurels. It had tall chimneys, pointed gables and a garden of blood-coloured roses. Inside it smelled of church."

second: "I pictured a low timber house with a shingled roof, caulked against storms, with blazing log fires inside and the wall lined with the best books, somewhere to live when the rest of the world blew up."
