"How to help your child read"

"Children who make the most progress in reading practice at school and at home.

Talk about the words- what does it start with, what does it end with.

Find the words in stories or books. Say 'Can you find this word in the story?'
Play a game of I Spy - 'I spy the word...' - count slowly to ten and see if your child is able to identify the word in a text.
Do not spend more than 10 or 15 minutes reading, it is better a bit every day than try to do an hour a week.
Read lots of stories, have fun at reading time. It should be an enjoyable experience for you all.
