toothpaste. toilets. aircraft carriers.
tenho a impressão de que os jogos para entreter as massas andam muito comprometidos.

I understand that there has been a never ending tension between Russia and the US – reasons which are understandable. But, it really bothers me how the American press is focused on getting to us all this bad press about the Olympics there. I am a subscriber to many of the NY Times pages and every other post you've been publishing is taking a jab at the olympics in Russia in some way or angle. How the country is not ready, the security concerns, the infrastructure issues, the animal abuses (which has nothing to do with the Olympics but somehow have made it into these articles), etc. I mean, granted…there are issues….just like there have been in other Olympics hosted everywhere else. It has never been perfect. But please, focus more on the participants that have worked their butts off for years, decades even. Focus on their triumphs and the big opportunity they have in front of them. Focus on the significance of the event, the world coming together in the spirit of healthy competition and the beautiful ripple effects of this. Focus on the successes of the event for a moment. Spread the joy, the good, the greatness. There will be time to discuss what worked or didnt. That time is not now, the games have not even taken off yet. Otherwise it just looks like the American press is “hating”and continuing to feed American generations with even more negative views on a fellow world-power. Let’s be bigger than this. We are bigger than this. And let me enjoy the freaking games in peace!! --says Gisel Garcia in a comment of a nytimes article.
