The Hacapulo Passage

It connects the Istiklal Street with Meşrutiyet Street. It was begun to be built in 1850 and was opened in 1871. It is said that 3 people could have let it built. The buisnessman M. Hacopulo, the banker Hacopulo and the Major Kiryako Hacapulo.

It is an open passage with theree main buildings. It was the meeting point of the Young Turks and Ahmet Mithat Efendi had printing house under his home.

The father of the famous photographer Ara Güler, Dacat Güler had a pharmacy in the Hacopulo building.

At the end of the year 1869 the ‘Adam Music Shop’ was opened here, and later the first chamster orchester of Istanbul met here it’s audience. Nowadays there are different cafes, book stores and shops and the famous Mustafa Amca here and it is one of the most popular places in Istanbul.
