I saw Moonlight Mile yesterday. It was showing at an independent movie theater along with a few european films.
May be that explains why I thought this film was so european: slow pace, plenty of close-ups, atmosphere and a certain "we are helpless in the face of destiny" general mood. You feel uneasy most of the film and the end is not strong enough to lift that blanket.
The good news is all the "european" features were great. Solid characters, wonderful acting, we can see through their faces into their hearts. I only wished we had seen more of the small town. It seemed to be a charming place and we only get to visit a few places and streets. The music is great although I had expected to hear more of it during the film.
In the end I thought that may be Respiro would have been a better choice for a sunday evening but that is probably very unfair. It was a good choice and I believe home video won't do it justice. I'll save Respiro for next weekend.
